I know, in it's early days, "GUNSMOKE" was sponsored by L & M cigerettes (as was the radio show). But when did Liget and Meyers (the company that made L & M and Chesterfield ciggerettes) drop their spomsorship? Was it in 1964? Because that's when the surgeon general came out with a report that smoking's hazerdous to your health. (and in 1964 The American Tobaco company dropped their sponsorship of "THE FLINSTONES" and; in 1965 "THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES" for that reason)

And then I suppose you'll be telling me that the Flintstones did a cigarette commercial.

...sponsored the radio version of "GUNSMOKE" (on behalf of Chesterfield and L&M; they alternated every other week) from 1954 through '57. The TV edition was primarily sponsored by L&M through 1962, at least.
'THE FLINTSTONES" were co-sponsored by R.J. Reynolds [Winston] during their first two seasons (1960-'62); Miles Laboratories {One-A-Day, Alka-Seltzer} was their primary sponsor. Reynolds then shifted their sponsorship to "THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES" in the fall of 1962 [Kellogg's was the show's primary sponsor], and continued through 1967.

1967? Are you sure? I thought it was 1965, like I said.
