New York City street performer the Naked Cowboy, a Times Square fixture who sings while wearing only cowboy boots, a cowboy hat and his underwear, is suing CBS claiming that the Emmy Award-winning soap opera "The Bold and the Beautiful" ripped off his act, reports TMZ.com.

The Naked Cowboy is seeking $1.5 million in damages for trademark infringement, among other things. The soap recently had a scene on the show in which a character appeared in his underwear, sporting a guitar and a cowboy hat.

The suit alleges that CBS used the name Naked Cowboy to promote the show on YouTube and on the network’s website, and that the network bought advertising using the term on search engines.

The Naked Cowboy, whose real name is Robert John Burck, announced in October that he plans to run for president in 2012 representing the Tea Party.
