This I found out on "Pioneers of Television",and their episode on Crime Dramas. They said something to the effect, that besides the late Jack Lord and the late James Mac Arthur, who were both born in the mainland United States(Jack Lord,I've heard, was born in Brooklyn ,New York, and I don't know where in the U.S.James Mac Arthur was born),the rest of the cast of the original were either Oriental or Native Hawaiian.

That was somewhat of an error, because Richard Denning had a regular role as Governor and he was born in New York.
