started in 1972 doesn't do as well in syndication and on DVD sales when both shows are from the same time period?

It confuses me too, I actually started a thread on the Maude forum. I have no idea. Perhaps political reasons?

Maude was to one-dimensional. She was a kick-a** guest on AITF, but not strong enough to carry a show week by week imo.

Still doesn't explain why the show was a HIT on CBS and a DUD in syndication

some of the TV Books say it could be depressing at times so that could be another reason.
