Default Retired at 35 on TV Land

I tried watching this show but the son looks 23 and acts 18 and his parents seem more like his grandparents. Maybe the show would be more watchable if the title was different.

I watched it once and turned it off after about 10 minutes. They can give it any title and the show would still be what it is--junk.

You are right about that. The ep I watched last night is with him staying at his mom's house and playing a pinball machine.

Who do they make these shows for. What type of viewer watches that stuff on a regular basis.Do these people tvland/viacom etc. really think shows like that can even come close to competing with the 'true' classic shows.--I'll bet good $$ Antenna-TV spent less money getting the rights to air all of its good older shows than Viacom spent in making just that one show.

I love Hot in Cleveland, but Retired at 35 is just awful. How TV Land have one great comedy and one TERRIBLE one is beyond me. Retired at 35 may be the worst new comedy this year, right in front of NBC's Perfect Couples.

I agree with everything said. He doesn't act/look 35 and the age difference between the parents and son seem much greater than they are supposed to be. I find the friend that cleans pools to be extremely annoying and the show doesn't seem to be getting anywhere.

Strange, because I liked the looks of it from the first episode. I quickly lost interest after the following episodes. Shame because I like George and Jessica.

Obviously,TVLand has cancelled Retired at 35,because it is not on TVLand's new April 2011 schedule.Source:TVLand April 2011 Schedule on the general comedies discussion board.

TV Land promoted the heck out of that show. Every other commercial was promoting it. It just didn't work. If it got cancelled, good riddance.

From what I'm reading, the show has been renewed for another season. The new episodes will premiere in the winter.

I caught half of one episode & really enjoyed it. I thought there was great chemistry between the characters. Sitcoms almost always take a while to find themselves.... the characters have to grow into their parts. I'd tune in again.

I've resigned myself long ago that TV Land is NOT going to return to the classic shows. I hardly ever even watch the channel anymore.

My new favorite channel is Antenna TV.. it's what TV Land once was.

Yes, I agree -- it does take time for characters to find the chemistry.

Even tho' it's not classic TV, I saw a couple of episodes and enjoyed them -- I'm looking forward to reruns this summer to see what I missed.

And, of course, to season two.
