cigarettes??

My father and I were watching the episode where Beaver sold water to Wally and his friends in order to get a uniform. Dad said he saw a pack of cigarettes in Ward's shirt pocket. I'm just wondering if Ward ever smoked on camera? I think Hugh Beaumont smoked in real life, but I would think the directors or somebody would've told him to take the cigarettes out of his pocket or something. Anybody else see this or is it something my father thought he saw? Thanks

This puzzles me greatly.Why would they smoke on televison.I have seen it on ILL but not LITB.I would not be suprised if they Didn't know they were there.Also,I have neaver seen them smoke on that show.

I didn't think Ward smoked on camera. The only episode where I remember anybody smoking was the pipe episode when Beaver and Larry smoked the pipe. I guess if Hugh smoked between breaks he stuck them in his shirt pocket. I'm not sure.....

I've never noticed the cigarettes in Ward's shirt pocket before, but someone has mentioned this before on the LITB Mail List. To say I was surprised would be an understatement. But smoking was quite common back then, and nobody knew about the serious side affects and future consequences to smoking. I know I will have to watch the episode closely in the future (I've got it on tape). Yeah, I wonder if Hugh smoked in real life? Does anybody know?

I'm going to try and find a Hugh Beaumont website. Maybe it has personal pics of him on there, and this will shine some light on whether he smoked in real life or not.
