Default "You're a liar and a thief. Cheating Customers out of their money."

One day at my job, I rang up a customer for a pack of Marlboro Lights cigarretes. The deal was 2 for 11.70. She only asked for one, and it came up like 6.30. We finished the transaction, and then she asked me for another one. I rang that up too, and it came up to 6.30 cents. She said, "Your sign says 2 for 11.70 Why are you charging me 6.30 again? I tried to explain to her that you have to buy the 2 cigarrettes together on the same transaction, and she was still mad. She said, "You're a liar and a thief. Cheating customers out of their money." She threw the 7.00 at me, accidentally hitting me, but I remained calm. I was so about what she said, I didn't really get angry.

I quit smoking Christmas Eve 2003. Smoking was a lot more fun when it only cost $2.00 or less for a pack of cigarettes.

My sister-in-law used to work in retail and she told me about customers throwing things at her and yelling.

I honestly don't know how people can even afford to smoke. I've seen people who will buy cigarette's instead of food for them and their kids

Oh No

My gosh, how cigarette prices have skyrocketed over the past fifteen years. I used to get them when they were $2.50 a pack at a really cheap place. I gave them up fifteen years ago when I started going to a fitness center. I don't miss them at all.

But this lady freaking out about not getting the discount for two, wow, like, chill out, Toots. How can you get the discount if you don't let the clerk know you're getting two? One after the other, expect to pay full price, DUH!!! It doesn't matter if it's one second after you pay for the first one or one hour, if it's not on the same ticket, it's $12.60. Should have thought about that sooner. People complain too much about not getting a full bargain. Hey, life's not fair.

why didn't you void/return the transaction for the first pack...and then rering both of the packs together so the customer would be able to take advantage of the discount?

Yeah, I was wondering that.

As someone who worked for many years in retail I can tell you that when a customer treats you that rudely you really don't feel like doing them any favors. Besides the difference between the full and discount price was only 90 cents. Not really worth holding up the line-up for and getting the rest of the customers angry at you as well.
