Eek NOW FEATURING...RING AROUND GILLIGAN

This is not one of my favorite episodes. I like the first part somewhat but I find the whole Boris Balinkoff Fort Knox segment a little boring. My son, however, used to like this episode. He used to replay the part when they zero in on each of the castaways hypnotized over and over again.

I was surprised to see Gilligan so interested in the ring. Even when the Skipper wanted to give him his ring he didn't want it. The only jewelry he ever wore was his lucky charm. Even when he found all the jewelry in the cave in "Voodoo," he didn't calculate its possible worth but gave it to the women on the island instead. Does he ever seem that interested in Mrs. Howell's jewel collection or the "order of the diamond cufflink that he receives?" Also, why won't he just lend it to Mrs. Howell when she asks to borrow it? After all, she has always been the one concerned with her outfits and how she looks, with everything matching. Gilligan is usually quite generous with his own things and I would think especially to someone as nice as Mrs. Howell. Does this make sense to you? In the scene, Lovey has to end up with it so that she can be under its spell later but "Sure, Mrs. Howell" would have seemed much more fitting from Gilligan and would have achieved the same result. Why does he have to argue? He doesn't know anything about the ring's being a hypnotic device.

What kind of a ring (jewelry wise) does it look like to you--color, stone, etc.?

Do you catch that stupid (I don't mean stupid for the show; it's in character) comment that Balinkoff makes to Lovey? When she says she was having an argument with her husband he says "That's nice"!

Am I crazy or does Ginger look as if she gained weight when she has the bathing suit on? Maybe it's an illusion or something.

I like this episode even though it is kind of silly. Boris Balinkoff is also one of my favorite guest characters.

Boris is one of my favorites, too. Lead composer-conductor GERALD FRIED seems to have composed an entirely original score for this, unlike the recurring musical hooks (like the delightfully eerie/sinister ones forever associated with that castle of his from "Friendly Physician", )..in fact only the end music was reused,on other episodes. (the one with the new gold cart.)

When Ginger says "Have you any further orders Master?" ...ooh the things I would do.

Nodsmiley Weight

I've heard the Ginger weight thing elsewhere, but I think she looks amazing. Very curvaceous in her leopard swimsuit and as always her legs are off the charts. That's how sex symbols should look IMHO...in the mind reading episode they reveal her measurements to be 36-22-36 and she seems every bit of it there if not a little more top and bottom while maintaining an incredibly tight waist...Hourglasses turned green with envy when she walked by!

Wasn't Tina Louise something like 6ft tall? She had to wear flats in group long shots. She did look curvier in the later episodes but because she was tall and poised she carried her weight well. Today she'd have to have silicone breasts and a thigh gap to be considered 'sexy', and Mary Ann would have to be size zero, borderline anorexic.

They do say the camera puts on 10lbs though.

Wink Ginger Body

You are right sadly. Tina was considered fairly busty for her day, but now she wouldn't cut it. A huge chest with skinny hips and legs is not beauty. Tina had the perfect balance, plus those phenomenal dancer legs and I'm sure worked very hard to maintain a 22-23" waist. Perfect symmetry! I believe LOOK Magazine named her the Most Beautiful Redhead in the World in 1960 putting her on a short list as one of the Most Beautiful of all women. I agree and as you say at near 6 ft. tall she must've taken men's breath away when she walked in a room...

I get so tired of hearing that. Mary Ann wins again, YAWNEROO. Who are they asking, anyway?

If you want a child/woman, pick Mary Ann. But if you want a REAL woman who'd give you a run for your money, pick Ginger. I'm not even a man and I'd pick Ginger!

I totally agree with you here Teebs. Mary Ann did seem like just a child/woman on the show. She even said in one of the episodes she should get 2 votes, one woman, one child! She also seemed waaaaay too young for the Professor IMO, although a lot of people like to say there was something going on between them.

And I don't care what people say about Tina Louise, she was a gorgeous woman, face and body. She was stunning! Mary Ann was very cute and had a cute figure, but she was not in Ginger's league as far as just pure sexiness! Ginger and the Professor made such a dashing couple (as Howard Stern once said on his show)! I still say I saw more chemistry on the show between Tina and RJ than I did between Dawn Wells and RJ. Yeah, I'm female too, but I think Ginger was just way prettier & sexier than Mary Ann!

Will never get why men preferred Mary Ann over Ginger. Must be a personality thing. Guess you'd have to be a man to understand it! lol
