Default Hello

Hello everyone,
I am just joining today.

I have been a fan of Beverly Hillbillies, Leave It To Beaver, Andy Griffith, the 60s Batman since I was 5 (1972). Nothing that has been on TV for the last 20 years even comes close to the greatness of the classic TV shows. In fact, I don't watch any current sitcoms.

My fave episode of Beverly Hillbillies is Giant Jackrabbit. Good grief, what a hilarious boxing match.

My fave line from the show is when Granny tells Jed that Jethro is eating them out of house and home. Jed says "All growing boy snack between meals" and Granny says "But he snacks between bites". Ha ha!

And when Granny says about the picture of Clark Gable, "Who's that goomer?"

Classic stuff!

I think my favorite line is when Granny is going to perform a head transplant operation and she says to Jethro, "Take two aspirin... And wash your neck." Really wild and funny.

The Clampetts were not "up" on modern-day movie stars. They were still entrenched in the Silent era, which had its own set of greats. Good line on Gable.

You're young compared with me. I was already 7 in 1972!

I was 7 in 1972 and grew up on the Beverly Hillbillies and other classic tv shows. They just don't make them like that anymore. Welcome to Sitcoms Online.

Granny: "Thets what ah tol' him".
Jed: "Okay I'll tell ya! Thet Mr. Brewster said he'll pay me between twenty-fave an' a hunnert".
Pearl: "Twenty five an' a hunert? Dollars"?
Jed: "I know thet don' soun' like much, but he said he'll pay me in some new kin' o' dollars".
Pearl: "New kin o'...Jed they ain't no new kin' o' dollars"!

I was 13 in 1972, but I can remember 9-10 years before when the Beverly Hillbillies just got started. Interesting, though, that I liked the show right away but I didn't see why some things were supposed to be so funny-- at least I could hear people laughing. I mean, like Granny threatening Pearl if she didn't stay out of Granny's kitchen, and hanging the wash outside by the cement pond. That was 'normal' stuff, as far as I knew. And they tawked more like people I knew than on other television shows.

You think you're old because you were 8 in 1972, I was 8 in 1963.
