The Official "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" Trailer Released
Benjamin Walker Cast as Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Benjamin Walker has signed on to take the lead in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, a horror-thriller about the 16th president and his quest to rid the world of vampires. The film, which will begin shooting in 3D in March, will be directed by Timur Bekmambetov (Night Watch), who will also produce with Tim Burton and Jim Lemley. Seth Grahame-Smith, who wrote the novel, will handle screenwriting duties. Fox is hoping for a June 22, 2012 release. In Grahame-Smith's novel, President Lincoln's mother is killed by a supernatural creature, which fuels his passion to crush vampires and their slave-owning helpers ... a cause that becomes a hidden motivation for the Civil War. I know this is supposed to be quirky, offbeat attention getting property because of the bizarre title, but seriously, it seems like the "shock value" of seeing a staid, heroic and upstanding former U.S. President mixing it up with the legions of the undead is the only reason I'd be interested in this. And I'm not.
What's next? "Paul Revere: Exorcist"??  WRITE SOMETHING ORIGINAL, FOR PITY'S SAKE!!!

Judging from these pics, we might be seeing young Abe going hunting with his axe. Benjamin Walker is the man playing the Prez who moonlights as a bloodsucker slayer.
