Default This is Funny?

"Mike's New Job" requires him to move to California, instead of living next door to the Bunkers. Carroll O'Connor is hilarious as he gets Gloria (who wants to go) to start crying as she realizes that they are moving away from her parents.

But when George Jefferson shows up, he and Archie just throw a pile of worn-out racist jokes at each other.

Maybe they were funny back then.

It defiintely caught me off guard when I saw George Jefferson at the dor because it was unexpected in the syndication world-lol I was like-"what the hell is he doing there without Weezie?

I guess it was supposed to be funny because it was supposed to be like OLD TIMES

It is interesting that a network like TV Land feels it necessary to censure sitcoms that were written and aired over 35 years ago. It is a commentary on our society I think. Have we progressed or digressed?

I haven't seen this episode in ages, but those racial jokes do get old after a while. Even the ones on The Jefferson's got on my nerves after a while. But I guess back then it was okay to say things like that on televison. It's weird how times have changed because now they show lots of skin and swear words are written into the script, but you rarely hear racial jokes. And wow... I can't believe that TV Land censors the very programs they should be embracing (ie; classic TV). Amazing...

Possibly however why watch them on TV anymore when the (almost) entire series is available on DVD?

because; as me and a couple other people on here have said before, not everyone can afford a DVD player.
That may seem hard to believe since you can get one for $40 but not everyone has that kind of money.
For instance, people who are unemployed and/or are on a fixed income?
