Question Are you comfortable undressing in front of others?

It seems that many men have no problem being nude in front of each other. Most guys I know, including my husband, had/have no problem in their birthday suits in gym class as teens; and as adults in gyms, showers, saunas, etc. Guys pee standing next to each other. Does any of this bother any men? I know many women are comfortable like this, as well, so let's hear from you too.

This thread has nothing to do with sex, so please don't steer it in that direction. It's about nudity in front of others, without the component of sex.

Cool

I have never felt comfortable undressing in front of others. I always tried to avoid showering after Gym class in high school if I could. I'm not crazy about undressing in front of others in the change room of the public swimming pool either.

I'm a male and have never enjoyed undressing around anyone else. I guess I'm extremely private since it doesn't bother a lot of other people. My father is the same way.

I'm more comfortable with it now as an adult then when I was younger.

I'm not really a fan of saunas or public showers, but I've undressed (partially) for massage parlors and at men's grooming lounges.

In my early 20s I performed nude at some "adult clubs" around NYC.

I'm very uncomfortable with undressing in front of anyone. Of course in my case I'm sure that's because of what I went through as a child.

I haven't had to do it since high school physical education. At the time it didn't bother me since I was in really good shape. This was good since in gym class we often had to play without shirts on and the overweight kids got made fun of a lot. If it were now, I don't know.

I don't care for it. To be honest, I can't think of a single situation where I would need to undress in front of strangers since showering in the guy's locker room in high school (which I never liked). I don't do saunas or public swimming pools, so really it's not a problem for me.

Like most things, it may come down to what you are used to. I never had to do this often enough to get comfortable with it, and at my age, I have no desire to change now.

I hated changing in the girls' locker room in gym class in middle school. Mainly because girls that age can be so catty and always made fun of my figure and the fact that I was flat as a washboard. It wasn't so bad in high school (especially since we only had to take gym the first two years) and in college. The last time I remember having to undress in front of others was about three years ago for the church Good Friday drama, as we all had to be in period costume, as it was a recreation of the Crucifixion. They divided two big rooms in the church basement as communal dressing rooms - one for the guys and one for the girls. I was one of the older females then, because it was mainly the youth who were in this drama. So it was OK.

I don't even like to see myself naked, so I wouldn't want to torture others by forcing them to watch me undress! Luckily, it hasn't been an issue. The last time was when I was a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding and she actually asked for the photographer to be there and snap pics of us dressing! I refused and she was mad, but that is too much of an invasion of my privacy and if I had known beforehand I would have turned down the invitation to be in the wedding.

Same here, Michael. When I watch men showering together in movies, I'm like wtf, what am I missing here?!? It seems so normal to so many people. Even the way they casually stand beside each other in urinals is what you said -- bizarre. I do however, have the absolute funniest short video about men at a urinal stand. It was sent via e-mail, so anyone who wants to see will have to give me their e-mail. It's hilarious.

The people on the E train don't seem to mind.

Seriously, I don't like undressing in front of myself, much less others.

I went to Haulover beach in Florida 10 years ago--it just seemed very natural. The funny thing was it seemed all the younger people wore bathing suits The other funny thing was you had to go through the nude part to get to the clothed part
