Original Catwoman Julie Newmar Endorses Anne Hathaway
Former Catwoman actress Julie Newmar has endorsed the casting of Anne Hathaway in the role.
Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Newmar backed her latest successor to excel as the villain in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises. "She's going to be marvellous," she told the publication's All The Rage blog. Newmar portrayed the villain in the Batman television show from 1966 to 1967. Other actresses to tackle the character in film and TV include Lee Meriwether, Eartha Kitt, Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry. Hathaway will appear in the upcoming film alongside Tom Hardy's Bane.
