Maybe.
Times have changed. I think a show like Dallas the business would be more currupt, and the family would be dealing with a lot more issues today. The same applies to Knots Landing. Also the characters would be a lot younger, and they would focus on them, and having the older characters on the back burner. |

^ Yeah, I agree. You'll never again have the type of big, glitzy soaps like there were in the 70s and 80s (not counting Knots, which was more down to earth, generally) but you still have the stuff geared for younger people like Twilight (which essentially tries to redo the Gothic soap for kids). And of course there are the reality shows, like One Tree Hill and the Hills, which are just soaps (albeit braindead ones).
