Biggrin Carlina White has been found!!!!!

Carlina Renae White, who was kidnapped by someone posing as a nurse when she was hospitalized at just three weeks old, has been located alive and well!! She was featured briefly, along with Christopher Abeyta, with the Marlene Santana segment.

Info here (and links to articles):

What a miracle!

Saw this on a local news teaser but wasn't sure if it was an "Unsolved Mysteries" segment. Good news! Can't wait to hear the details....

I don't remember it from UM and I saw most of them. I do remember the baby ready to be brought home from the hospital for the first time, abducted by a woman holding a gun to her head.

Yes, she was featured on UM in either a special alert or one of those "here are some other missing children" features. I remember the baby picture. So glad she was found!

Oh man I got teary eyed reading the news story. Her mother kept her baby picture on her dresser all these years. And then the "baby" solved her own mystery!

Just awesome.

Incredible! As soon as I saw the story I thought immediately of that segment. The only thing better would have been if the daughter saw UM herself.

The plot thickens, friends! For some time, I've been meaning to start a topic about this and I suppose I'll finally do it this weekend, but basically:

My girlfriend recently began reading the author John Updike, and she started with his Rabbit series; a series of books written periodically through decades following a once successful high school basketball player. The novel for the 1980s, Rabbit at Rest, finds the main character stuck in a middle American lifestyle, watching television with his wife. He discusses popular television shows and what a particular night's episode was about. For example, he'll discuss a night's particular episode of The Cosby Show, and he's really describing an actual episode.

Well, one of his wife's favorite television shows is Unsolved Mysteries! One segment he describes is a baby being abducted from a hospital. Hmm...

I saw the NY Times article this morning and thought it sounded vaguely familiar but wasn't sure. Great news! I just find it so amazing that Carlina solved her own mystery!

Wonderful news!!!! I remember seeing the Carlina White story with the Marlene Santana segment, and I remember her story on the Charley Project as well. I am so happy to hear that there was a happy ending to her story.
I am pasting a link that I found on abcnews.com

I seriously thought this was a UM case when I saw it on TV. Wonderful story, great they have been reunited after all these years. Hopefully they catch the kidnapper too.

Reminiscent of the 1995 TV-movie The Face on the Milk Carton, based on a couple of novels by Caroline B. Cooney.

A 16-year-old girl becomes suspicious when her birth certificate isn't available to obtain her driver's license and no pictures of her exist before age three.

Anyone know offhand how many such cases were featured on UM? I remember someone dressed as a nurse taking a baby to be weighed and walking out with it or attempting to do so but don't remember if it was on UM, as well as the two mentioned above.

Here's one of what I'm told of several excerpts from the book regarding UM:

Harry is struck by how well, really, these small-town sheriffs and trailer-camp housewives, and even the drifters and dropouts who just just happened to be tripping out on a deserted picnic grounds when the giant minds commanding the UFOs decided to land and sample the terrestrial fauna, speak - a nation of performers, of smoothly talking heads, has sprung up under the lights, everybody rehearsed for their thirty seconds of nationwide attention. During the commercials, Judy skips to other channels, to Jacques Cousteau in a diving suit, to Porky Pig in his big-buttoned blue vest (odd, those old cartoon animals all going around with bare bottoms), to a stringy-haired rock singer mouthing his mike in a lathered-up agony like a female porn star approaching a blow job, to a courtroom scene where the judge's shifty eyes in a second show that he is in on a deal, a hummingbird beating its surprisingly flexible wings in slow motion, Angela Lansbury looking shocked, Greer Garson looking gently out of focus in black and white, and back to Unsolved Mysteries, now about an infant who disappeared from a New York hospital, making Robert Stack, in his mystical raincoat, extra quizzical.
