So I just watched the Mary Morris segment today January 19th, 2011 on Spike. Given that there was some controversy OVER 5 YEARS AGO on this thread about this case I figured I may ask a question. I am aware that the moderator had to close some threads OVER 5 YEARS AGO involving this case due to some people allegedly involved fighting on the forum. HOWEVER, it HAS been OVER 5 YEARS. Plus, "Unsolved Mysteries" themselves saw fit to re-air this segment. Being that this is a forum about the show "Unsolved Mysteries", I believe it is fair and reasonable to bring this case up. After all, the reason a case airs on a show called "Unsolved Mysteries" and "America's Most Wanted" is because law enforcement NEEDS OUR HELP to solve a case. Otherwise, law enforcement would have called the producers and asked THEM never to air or discuss the segment. At the very least, they would have asked them to post a disclaimer at the end of the segment along the lines of "While we do need your help and we see fit to air this segment to millions of people on national television, we ask that you NEVER think about this case or ever discuss it with anyone. Thanks You!" I think we all can see how ridiculous that sounds.....

I do not with to stir up any new controversy, I only wish to ask the question many of us on this forum ask about many of the segments aired on our beloved television show "Unsolved Mysteries"

So.......DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY CREDIBLE UPDATES ON THIS CASE???

I also watched this the other day and after the segment I had the feeling that the male nurse may have looked Mary up in the phone book, hunted her down and killed her, then realized he had the wrong Mary. They did look just alike and had same name. Obviously if the husband had hired someone to kill his wife they would know where to get her and what vehicle she would be in. Hard to beileve they would make a mistake like that. There again it could be just a strange coincidence

I actually don't think the male nurse had anything to do with it. I get the impression he was just a strange guy who had the misfortune of being in the wrong place when the "***** hit the fan" so to speak. I think the fact that the killer killed the wrong Marry first makes it all the more likely that it was a contract killer. From what I understand, contract killers are given very little info from the person hiring them. It is then up to them to do the independent research and make sure they have the correct target. You factor in the fact that these women had the same name, very similar features, and lived so close and you can see where the mistaken identity could happen. We see the same thing take place in the Don Devereux case. Besides, if it were the male nurse who wanted to kill her in some fit of rage, it is very unlikely that he would go through the effort of paying some "professional" to kill a co-worker he had "beef" with. And if he did it himself, how does that explain Mary's phone call where she says "a strange man" was following her. Wouldn't she have known if that "strange man" were her co-worker and identified as such? Also, how in the world would the co-worker have killed the wrong Mary at first? He obviously would have known her well enough not to make that mistake.

Yeah this case has all of the signs of a hit gone wrong, and that doesn't fit the disgruntled co-worker theory. If he truely wanted to kill her, he obviously wouldn't have killed the wrong Mary Morris, nor do I think he would have had the funds to hire someone to kill both. Mike Morris' four minute phone call two hours after the 2nd Mary's 911 call cannot go ignored. That is very suspicious IMO. It's almost like he was calling to see if the "job" had been done. The phone call coupled with the large life insurance policy on Mary make Mike a pretty good suspect in this case.

Another part of the segment that I found kind of odd was the phone call to Mary's friend shortly before she called 911. She said she was creeped out by someone in a store and was going to log her computer off and go home because he creeped her out so much. How unusual is that? I'm sure people see their fair share of "creepy" people everyday, but to go into a panic over it and then leave for the day? And if this guy was really doing something that was scaring her that bad, why would she call her friend instead of the authorities or try to get someone from her work to help?

Ok a few things here Im wondering if anyone can clarify.

First I understand that Mary said a guy was creeping her out but never said anything about it being the male nurse whom she would obviously know. So maybe it wasnt him. Now the police officer stated that they got a 911 call from Mary where they heard her being attacked, then two hours later phone records indicate Mary taking a 4 minute call. Now are we to assume the killer stayed with her for two hours after the attack to answer the phone?? Was the phone found in her car??? If not then it makes sense that the killer took the phone and spoke to the husband somewhere else. But if the phone was found on her then how could that be possible?? It would mean the killer was with her for two hours after she called 911.

Then we have the gun that Mary's husband had given her. Keep in mind she was freaked out enough by the male nurse to ask her husband to get her a gun. I wonder why she didnt go for the gun when being attacked? Was the gun found under the seat as the husband had stated?? If not then he may have made the whole story up about her being afraid for her life and asking him to get her a gun.

Does anyone know how far away Mary's car was found from the drugstore? It appears she was taken somehow in her own car in broad daylight without anyone seeing. There had to be more then one person involved in this also. She was found in her car so how did the killer get away from the crime scene without a ride?? This is the exact same situation on the other Mary Morris murder. How did the killer leave the crime scene??

It was said in the episode that there was some evidence against the male nurse and he was being looked at as a suspect. However that evidence is never described
When the police claim to have evidence against the husband its mainly bogus nonsense. He wanted a lawyer with him while being interviewed by police. Cant blame him for that. He refused polygraph.Smart move there also. He didnt allow his young daughter to be interregated by cops. Another smart move too. There are plenty of innocent people in jail because they felt they had nohting to hide and freely spoke to police. The officer that states that witnesses dont need lawyers is an idiot. If he has been working this case then its no wonder it was never solved.
