Which game shows from Fremantle

Have they loused up?This includes the all-new hourlong "Let's Make A Deal",AND the games that were part of the Goodson-Todman catalogue,like "The Price is Right".To me,Freemantle has not really loused up "The Price is Right".Which ones from the past and today have they really loused up?

I think they messed up Match Game '98 with host Michael Burger. Some of the answers were beyond bad taste and had to be bleeped. It was just crude. Rayburn's Match Game was suggestive, but there was a clear line of what you could NOT say or get away with.

And Card Sharks 2001 with Pat Bullard was a compete train wreck. No survey questions, just reveal the cards. What the hell??

And the ill-fated "Million Dollar Password"of a few years ago with Regis Philbin was overblown,too glitzy,and very hard.

I forgot to add:It(except for the episode with Betty White ,when they played "Classic Password",the first time,and the contestants won a lot of money-the second time they played "Classic Password"was pathetic,and a bust)bore no resemblance at all to CBS' original classic 1960's version of "Password",the ABC 1970's version ,or NBC's "Password Plus"(Regis Philbin was a celebrity player on that show)or NBC's "Super Password".

Without hesitation, the one game show Fremantle loused up was Card Sharks. They eliminated the survey questions which I felt was the best part of the game and went to more of a Street Smarts like format.

If they ever bring the show "To Tell The Truth" back...they should get back Alex Trebek to host.

Now I can picture the Alex Trebek "To Tell The Truth" with Sean Connery in it!

Yeah, I remember that version with Pat Bullard. It was terrible. If you want to update the set, fine. Just don't mess with the original gameplay. That's probably why I didn't like Million Dollar Password.

Freemantle has made "Family Feud"a bit raunchy-some of the questions,are somewhat raunchier than when John O'Hurley ,Richard Karn,Louie Anderson,the late Ray Combs or even when Richard Dawson hosted it.Although the show is good,although,as I said,a bit raunchy,Steve Harvey leaves a lot to be desired as host.

They did w/ John O'Hurley from 2000-02.

The gameplay leaned more towards the 1962-68-era w/ the additional audience vote. IMO, John himself was one of the show's least bit of problems.

The biggest issues I had w/ this version was the celebrities they casted, save for Kitty Carlisle (who made her final TTTT apperance on a week of shows and thus Carlisle became the Betty White of TTTT by apperaing in all of the version from the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and even 2000s).

Meshach Taylor was ok but not that memorable. Paula Poundstone demonstrated why the celebrity casting was the biggest issue I have w/ TTTT 2000. She is by far the worst TTTT panelist I've ever seen! She told too many stupid unfunny jokes that not only ate up a lot of the actual playing time but also the questioning time of the other panelists, especially whenever she even began telling one of her lame unfunny jokes they gave her more playing time than the other panelists. I was also disappointed w/ Kermit the Frog on his appearance here as well. His appreance here wasn't very memorable either and when he was on, he was acting like Paula Poundstone and not in a good way, either. And most of the other panelists acted like they either didn't know how to play the game or acted like they didn't wanna take the game seriously.

And by the time TTTT 2000 finally cleaned up its act and got rid of Paula after S1, it was too little, too late to save the show.



As for the Feud, the problems I have were the hosting, namely w/the inconsistent hosting by Louie Anderson and Richard Karn. Plus Louie's version also gets strikes for having that stupid One-Strike Rule for the Triple Round and for the scoring format, meaning that the 1st 3 rounds are irrelevant and the family who kills the 1st 3 rounds lose the 4th round on a steal or vice versa and for not having returning champions. Otherwise, save for the regrettable and forgettable ill-fated 2008 Celebrity Feud Primetime Edition, the Feud and also To Tell the Truth isn't as badly screwed up as MG '98 and especially CS 2001.



MG 98 had too many lame Clinton Jokes galore, 5 "Wonderful" Stars (HA! None of them except Vicki Lawrence were even worthy of wonderful!), a top cheap a-double crooked letter payoff of $5,000, Michael Burger himself could not keep control of the panel, ditching the choice of A or B (which IMO gave it a surprise and unpredictable element) in favor of lame, unfunny pun-laden categories w/ predictable questions, which gave some players an unfair advantage and the all-time worst MG Panelist (IMO) in Judy Tenuta and that accordion.



CS 2001 just plain sucked all around. Pat Bullard stunk and he (like Patrick Wayne on TTD '90) also had an annoying unmemorable catch phrase "I'm gonna let you change your base card if you don't like it, do you know whyyyyyyyy? Becuase I'm a nice guyyyyyyyy!" 2 players sharing 1 row of 7 cards (THAT'S RIGHT!) SEVEN CARDS! That means that the other player can win the game by standing there and doing absolutely NOTHING but pick their nose for the whole game! Clips Chips, instead of the 100 People Survey! A cheap set that looks like it was done by a 10th Grade Woodshop class in 20 minutes! And even the Money Cards on this version sucked, too. Why? Because the maingame winnings that you won were actually the money being used for the Money Cards, so therefore you could actually walk away w/ absolutely NOTHING! And that's actually happened on this version.



And what about Whammy! The All-New Press Your Luck? That too was produced by Freemantle for GSN.

IMO, it was OK but it lacked the excitement that the original Press Your Luck w/ the late Peter Tomarken had.

The new board, was MEH to UGH. They had waaaaaay too many prizes (A lot of cheap ones at that) and very little cash squares on the board, which is understandable since it's on a cable budget and all but the cable budget does not do much to aid the cause of the cheap factor. Todd Newton, while I like him on other shows (especially on Hollywood Showdown), on Whammy!, his performance here is left to be desired. He tended to get excited and then dooze off. Parts of this set also seems to be heavily borrowed from the absymally putrid CS 2001 and theme song was uninspiring a bit.

Plus, while I liked that the new Round 1 keeps the show from being repetitive in game formula setup like the original PYL (i.e., Question Round, Big Board, Another Question Round, Another Big Board), something about it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. And the new Double Whammy can get a bit too much at times and was unnecessary.

Although S2 was a little better than S1, thanks to the Big Bank, which started at $3,000 and any cash and prizes lost to the Whammy! were added to the Big Bank and the player who lands on this space had a chance to win the stuff in the Big Bank by correctly answering a question.

Personally, I prefer Richard Karn over Louie Anderson and John O'Hurley for that matter and WAY better than Al Roker

Sure he could be annoying @ times, but @ least he kept the game goin' and Thank GOD that they brought back the Double and Triple Round and I only like the 1st Season of John O'Hurley and that's it

But I agree with everything else alot of these FremantleMedia Shows

But you guys forgot 1 Game Show

Beat the Clock w/Gary Kroeger, I think that him and Julielinh Parker did a great job and I guess Gary was more comfortable on there than he was on The Newlywed Game (although I LOVE his version better than Paul's, Carnie's and Sherri's)

and I gave up on TPIR ever since Barker got rid of all of the Old School Models and I'm not a Drew Carey Fan (although I do like the Big Wheel Better)

Fremantlemedia is more like Dismantlemedia

The ONLY one Fremantle didn't louse up too bad(it did a bit towards the end)was the regrettably short-lived revival of "$ale of the Century"called "Temptation"from 2007(I still fondly remember it today).It's too bad THAT didn't last.

You cannot believe everything negative you read or hear about the show. The owners of the show had more power than the hosts and you cannot blame a host just because he had the title of executive producer.

Host - Rossi Morreale, was monotuous at times and he was no Jim Perry.

The set was too cluttered, especially in the Shopper's Area.

The tight-wad, penny-pinching budget also hurt this version. The 5-day limit made no sense due to the tight-wad budgets. I mean on the original '69-'73 and especially w/ the 1980s version w/ Jim Perry you stayed on and tried to win the whole lot until you bought a single prize you wanted or you played on and lost. Here, you had to take whatever level top prize you was at after 5 days no matter what.

Plus, they had a limit on the Insant Cash Jackpot (here it began somewhere like $500/$1000 and increased by $500 per show up to maximum of $5,000 until it was won), whereas on the Jim Perry run, there was no limit.

I also hated the new Fame Game with that lame WoF-rip-off puzzle for guessing the famous person, place or thing and it was almost too easy for someone to get it and win.

The only things I did like were the Speed Rounds and even though the Shopping Endgame from the original versions were kept intact and liked that you could win extra money to purchase prizes for the shopping round (albeit through another rip-off game from another show called "Wipeout" w/ the late Peter Tomarken), this is where my problem w/ the penny-pinching budget kicks in at. Why couldn't they have 5-day winners automatcially or champs who make it to the grand prize wins w/ a enough TD's (temptation dollars, Oh god I hate saying those words!) before their 5-days were up win the entire lot? The most you could walk away w/ was a new expensive car.

I also hated those awful HSN-ripoff commercials interspersed through the show, too.

Otherwise, Tempation: The Crappy New Sale of the Century here in the U.S. version is another show I wouldn't miss at all, unless it was done better than the way they did it.
