I read somewhere that WKRP did an episode about the concert stampede involving 'The Who.' How was it? Any good? Was it very dramatic?

I've never seen it either, but from comments I've read from people online, it sounds like it was very respectful to the victims.

it was. I remember, the first half (up to the first commercial break) was like a regular episode; and full of laughs. Then the second part was very dramatic and, like the above poster said; very respectful of the victims.

The episode HAD to be made. I mean, how can you have a show about a rock radio station in Cincinnati and NOT address the issue?

yes; I agree. And that's what I remember Hugh Wilson saying in an interview at the time.

My memory of it is that it was sad, very respectful and wonderfully acted.

It was chilling. Very well done and respectful to the victims. They did not make light of the tragedy. That was such a sad event.
As a result, many venues did away with "festival" seating. But it was a great show and if they'd release season two on DVD -- we could see it again. |

The episode was brilliantly done. It started out as business as usual with the whole staff talking about the concert and their plans to attend, but the ending was some of the best portrayals of restrained grief that I have ever seen. If anyone ever doubted that this show was brilliant, this one episode would have proved them wrong. The episode aired pretty quickly after the tragedy and I commend the producers for doing such a wonderful job in so short of a time.
