Martha Plimpton to Return to 'The Good Wife' - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Fox may have just given Raising Hope a second-season pickup but that doesn’t mean that star Martha Plimpton couldn’t moonlight from time to time. To wit: EW just learned exclusively that Plimpton’s in serious talks to reprise her role as the conniving attorney Patti Nyholm on CBS’ The Good Wife. Plimpton played the memorable character in a couple of episodes last season, and the producers have wanted to bring her back ever since.

Fortunately, Plimpton’s schedule on Hope is flexible enough that she can squeeze in a little Wife time sometime this spring, an insider said.

Plimpton’s decision to return to CBS’ top-rated drama underscores how fortunate the producers have been when it comes to attracting appealing guest stars. Executive Producers Michelle and Robert King told the nation’s critics in Pasadena today that they are routinely approached by actors who want to join in on the fun; unfortunately, their casting budget can be stretched only so far. But they do have some pretty provocative folks in mind for future episodes: Robert King said they’d love to get Donald Rumsfeld.
