Question I Found A Credit Card. Should I Use It Or Give It Back Where I Found It?

I found a credit card in a neighbor's driveway(we don't know each, other), RIGHT by the main street. It's very easy to say that I found it on the main street, but I saw it firmly in their driveway. I am tempted to use the card, up for my own selfish wants. Should I ask if anyone lives there with the same name on the card or even knows the person on the card? Or should I see the card as a blessing and use up the card to live up my life?

I find it hard to believe that you would even consider trying to use it. Any purchases you make can be traced back to you and I would say that a visit from your local Sheriff's dept would be around the corner. Save yourself alot of grief and return it. The card should have a toll free # on back, call them and explain the situation. Just because you found it in someone's driveway doesn't necessarily mean that it belongs to anyone living there. Someone could have dropped it while passing by.

I know a store that doesn't check ID for credit cards. I could use a disguise and use up the card at that store without it being traced back to me.

Or you could just, you know, do the right thing and not commit theft.

I agree with others give the card back or call it in as lost. The credit card holder might have already reported it as lost. In those situations the credit card company closes the account with that number and they start the process of opening a new account for the holder with a new number.

I went to the neighbor's house, and they told me that no one lived there by that name. I think I'll give it to the police station.

I saw this thread yesterday, but didn't reply (obviously), but was thinking about it so I had to reply, lol.

I'm glad you decided to turn it in. I have to be honest and say that I was also shocked that you would even post such a question. (no offense)

But glad you did the right thing. *wink*

this reminds me of a story on our local news earlier this week - some guy got really drunk and robbed a gas station, but when he needed a ride home he somehow called 911 to call a cab - so anyways the cops picked him up, but they didn't give him a ride home.

I seriously hope you are not truly thinking of commiting a major felony and then posting about it on the Internet...

I'd go so far as to say, "I seriously hope you are not truly thinking of commiting a major felony" PERIOD.

I doubt there was even a credit card that was lost. Sounds like somebody needs a little attention, with a BS post like this.
