Movie 'Dynasty' to be Made into A Movie

Not that there has been any discernable call for it but the creators of “Dynasty” plan to bring back the franchise as a series of big screen movies.
Citing TV-to-film successes such as “Sex and the City,” “The A-Team” and “Charlie’s Angels,” co-creator Esther Shapiro said, “The time is right,” in a statement released with the announcement.

Esther and her creative partner/husband Richard feel bigger budgets and the ability to steam it up on the big screen make the revival viable.
“We want to go back to the beginning with these characters and use the film to trace their roots. We’re taking Blake Carrington back to his young manhood when he met Alexis, and setting the movie in the ‘Mad Men’ era of the 1960s. It will give us the opportunity to start fresh, without the constraints that television placed on our characters.”

Don’t line up for tickets. The script hasn’t been written but the Shapiros hope to have cameras rolling some time this year.

Since they're doing it as a prequel and not a remake, it might be okay. Curious to see who'd they'd get to play Alexis. Obviously, Krystal will not be one of the characters.

It would be fun to see a young Blake and a young Cecil Colby competing with each other.

I wonder if they'll capture the campy tone of the series, or try to be a little more on the serious side.

Time will reveal...

Well since Krystal is a central character to Dynasty, they'll probably work her in some how. I would think. Hm, I don't see how this pre-quel could work, if they say there going to keep the storyline with the characters we know from the '80's series, yet go back to the '60's. If Krystal's not there, Sammy Jo wouldn't be either!

Well, Krystal is significantly younger than Blake, so I don't see how they could work her into it. I mean, unless Blake and Alexis are walking down the street and see a cute baby in a stroller and go "My what a darling little girl."

Then the little girl could wink at Blake...

Nahhh...I think it will be fine with just Blake and Alexis. I'd be curious to see how they met and how their romance blossomed. At one time they did love each other and had three kids.

^ Wasn't it 4 kids? There was Fallon, Steven, Adam and Amanda, IIRC.

Blake didn't even know he had a daughter named Amanda. She had been living in England, and Alexis kept her a secret. I don't remember how Adam was explained, but he wasn't around at the beginning either.

I suppose Fallon, Steven, and Jeff Colby could be children in the movie, if its a prequel.

I think Adam had been kidnapped as a child and raised by another family, and then was reunited with the Carringtons after he grew up. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Adam had been kidnapped and raised by another family, but it was revealed later on that Michael Torrance (who was believed to be Adam and took on his name) was not their real son. Although, for some odd reason, Blake and Alexis adopted him and let him be "Adam."

Why I don't know, because he tried to screw both of them for his own selfish reasons, but that's Dynasty, folks...

It looks like this prequel is indeed going to be about Blake and Alexis up to their marriage. So even the Carrington children will not be introduced yet.
