SAN FRANCISCO (WTVA) _ Actor John Dye, 47, died Monday in California.

The Amory native and Tupelo High School graduate was living in San Francisco.

The San Francisco County medical examiner's office says they were notified around 12:20 Monday afternoon.

The cause of death is under investigation, and more details were not able to be released.

Dye is best known for playing Andrew on the television series "Touched by an Angel".

His resume included roles in several tv series and movies.

I'm sorry to hear that news. He was perfectly cast as Andrew, on Touched
by an Angel. I also liked his performance as the bartender on Hal Linden's
short-lived comedy-drama series Jack's Place. A fine actor, gone too soon.

John Dye played Andrew aka the Angel of Death on Touched by an Angel. Della Reese and Roma Downey played the other Angels. In later seasons Valerie Bertinelli was added to the cast as another Angel.
