Heart Touching/Emotional Episodes

I have been watching Bewitched online for several days now and a couple nights ago I watched an episode that gave me an idea for this thread. I had made it yesterday, and SO was going through updates and the post was never posted. *grr* Anyway...

1.) Eye of the Beholder Season 1

Endora makes a picture from 1682 with Samantha's face on it, display before Darrin. This causes him to wonder how old his wife really is and become depressed on how he will age, but not her. But at the end of the episode, Darrin tells Sam that it doesn't matter how old she is, he loves her anyway.

2.) Charlie Harper, Winner Season 3

An old friend/rival of Darrin's comes over for dinner one night. He is successful, rich and his wife, Daphne, loves to brag about it. Charlie tries to get Darrin to quite his job at MacMann and Tate and be Vice President at one of his companies. While Daphne loves to rub The Stephen's *not so rich life* in Samantha's face.

Sam twitches up a jewelry box with valuable things and a one-of-a-kind mink coat to show off to Daphne. This hurts Darrin and he tells her that he can't compete with her witchcraft. What he can't afford to give her, she can just "zap" into thin air!

Later, Samantha gives Daphne the mink coat, but wants no money for it. Daphne doesn't get it. There is nothing more valuable than "items" to her, but Sam says (after Daphne has walked into the next room, but Charlie hears her) that "yes", there is something *much* more valuable.

3.) A Is For Aardvark Season 1

Darrin sprains his ankle and so not to keep walking up and down the steps, Sam zaps him powers to get whatever he wants. This goes to his head and quits his job, er-- retires, and Samantha tries to go along with it, but neither one is really happy (you can see). They make plans on moving to a new house until the summer.

Then a gift arrives for Samantha that Darrin had bought before all this mess had happened. Roses and a watch. This brings Samantha into tears. And then she sends them back before any of the "hocus pocus" ever started.

All three of these are SO utterly touching and emotional. Are there any other episodes that you guys can think of?

Those are all great episodes - really shows the power of true love, and the electric chemistry between EM & DY. Plus, episodes like that are timeless. They are just as meaningful now as they were when they first aired.

Here are a few more (I got each synopsis from The Bewitched Critic because he phrased them better than I do!):

"What Every Young Man Should Know" (Season 2): http://bewitchvic.tripod.com/072.html

"If They Never Met" (Season 4): http://bewitchvic.tripod.com/127.html

"I Confess" (Season 4): http://bewitchvic.tripod.com/135.html

It always gets me in "Eye of the Beholder" when Darrin is sitting by himself on the bench, all alone in the dark, thinking...he was so depressed. And then when Samantha came and he raised his head...it reminds me so much of the type of things I do whenever I'm in a pensive mood.

Yes...and you can see tears in Dick York's eyes as well. Material things really don't mean a thing - as long as they have each other. Both EM & DY were at the top of their game here.

"Happy 6th. Love, Darrin." (written on the card that came with the roses)

"I love you every second." (the inscription on the back of the watch)

This ep was made over 45 years ago, and people who weren't even born yet are discovering episodes like this and are being moved. THAT is timeless, folks.

You're making me emotional, catlover79...!

If I ever find a husband, all I can say is...I hope our love will be as deep as theirs.

Well I'm thinking along a similar but slightly different line. One of the most touching episodes to me is when Sam reveals her true identity to an orphan who doesn't believe in Santa Claus. It's from Season One I believe. With Billy Mumy as the disbelieving boy.

But of course in a show THIS GOOD there are many examples..as others have pointed out.

In 'And Then There Were Three', I love the scene where Endora tells Darrin that the baby's born. I think it's touching because it actually shows them being semi-kind to each other.
