During the show's first season there were skits involving two characters named Buddy and Jim. James Catusi played Jim, but who essayed the Buddy role?

I remember the Buddy and Jim skits from the first season of Sesame Street. They were hilarious and Buddy was played by Brandon Maggart. It's a shame that the comedic duo were let go after the first season.

I remember SS replaced B. and J. with a similar series featuring characters named Larry and Phyllis. Who played them?

Larry and Phyllis were played by the husband-wife duo of Alan Arkin and Barbara Dana.

Larry & Phyllis were then replaced by another comedy duo - Wally & Ralph (Joe Ponazecki & Paul Price). Wally & Ralph were similar to Buddy & Jim, judging by YouTube clips.

yes i remember that show and i really liked acting of Buddy in this show
