But I can't remember the details! I seem to remember a case where a little girl went with her mother to get the mail from the community place in their neighborhood and wanted to "race" their van back home. She never showed up, and they ended up finding her body later that evening. Does anyone else remember this?

The case you're interested in is the Katherine Korzilius case. To this day, the case remains unsolved. Sad...

I'm watching too! I can't believe it came on right after I posted this. It's so sad that they never found out what happened.

This is definitely one of the top 10 most baffling cases ever profiled on UM, one of those rare ones where it's virtually impossible to come up with an airtight theory about what happened. I know they try to disprove the "Katherine held onto the van and fell off" theory in the segment, but it's definitely not beyond the realm of possibility that could have happened.
I've always believed it's worse when someone is killed in an unexplained freak accident that no one witnessed than for them to be murdered, because if no one actually saw the victim saw die, then it's impossible for their loved ones to ever find out the real truth. At least if there was a murderer, that means one person out there knows what really happened. |
