Hot in Cleveland has a midseason finale?
I'm guessing it'll go on hiatus for several months then resume with new episodes in May or June. They need to bring MWC in to primetime... |

Hot in Cleveland is splitting up the 20 episode order into two 10-episode blocks. First block airs Jan. 19-March 23 with Retired at 35. Not sure when the remaining 10 from the season will air, probably in summer.

One question:I presume Boston Legal DIDN'T do well the first time TVLand aired it(or DID it?).So why are they bringing it back?

This is not February news, but TV Land is taping 3 sitcom pilots the next three weeks in February at CBS Studio City. They are just pilots, but should they come out good, they could be ordered to series and join Hot in Cleveland and Retired at 35.
Here are the pilots, which we have mentioned before (http://blog.sitcomsonline.com/2010/1...s-tv-land.html) but now we have more details on them: Ex Men (Untitled Mark Reisman Pilot) A new comedy for TV Land from creator/producer Mark Reisman (Frasier) revolving around 3 divorced guys, who live in an apartment building where their landlord is their sexy female divorce attorney. Starring Donald Faison (Scrubs), Kristen Johnston (3rd Rock From The Sun), Wayne Knight (Seinfeld, Hot in Cleveland), David Alan Basche (Law & Order), Beth Lacke (Happy Hour), Kelly Stables (Romantically Challenged, Two and a Half Men), Edi Patterson (The Groundlings) and Golden Brooks (Girlfriends). Happily Divorced A new comedy for TV Land based on Fran Drescher's real life. In addition to co-writing/exec producing, the former The Nanny star will star in the project, about a woman who re-enters the dating world after finding out that her husband is gay. It focuses on how she juggles her relationship with her current boyfriend and ex-husband post-divorce. Rita Moreno, Robert Walden and Tichina Arnold (Everybody Hates Chris) co-star. Rip City (Untitled Terri Minsky Pilot) Creator/producer Terri Minsky (Less Than Perfect), presents a new comedy for TV Land set at a regional beverage manufacturer and distributor in Oregon centering on a thirtysomething, Ivy League-educated New York woman who takes over as the boss. Her enthusiasm is dampened when her boyfriend doesn't follow her and nobody at the new company wants her there. Starring Christine Taylor (The Brady Bunch Movie) and Sherri Shepherd (Sherri, Less Than Perfefct). |

So, does this mean Bewitched will be back at 11 on weekdays?

Hot in Cleveland has been down this season greatly and R@35 is not doing impressively. They need to move them out of Wednesdays at 10 (why air sitcoms at 10PM when there's nothing else to air?) and try Tuesdays or Thursdays at 9PM. I don't know why they are so dead-set on keeping original shows on Wednesdays at 10PM.....these aren't reality shows like they've always aired then. Cutting back on the encores may help also.
I hope HIC doesn't go below 2mil next month. I could see Retired falling further. |

Why not air Hot in Cleveland and Retired at 35 at 8 and 8:30 on a certain day? Then when they add more original shows to the lineup, they could air after. Eventually, the original shows could encompass 8 PM-11; the same time frame as the major networks.

Since "Hot in Cleveland" and "Retired at 35" are shows that belong in prime-time,and,since they have NOT done well so far,TVLand will probably,no doubt, move them to where they move ALL shows that have not done well at night-to the morning.Because,"Bewitched"is just one example of the many shows that WERE on in prime-time .Besides, can you see "Hot in Cleveland" and "Retired at 35"in the morning?I don't think so.

They are not going to be moved into the mornings. They do better than Bewitched repeats. Hot in Cleveland may be down from last season, but it is by far their highest rated series.

One more thing, something else needs to air from 8-9PM instead of Sanford and Son. That doesn't fit anymore. I love the show, but it just seems weird in primetime there these days. Maybe they should try to get MWC for weekdays? Roseanne, Home Improvement? |

I agree that it will do better when it resumes in the summer. I just think the timeslot and competition is working against it. Last week's episode was awesome.
I would do this for a schedule, IF I were them: Weekdays 8:00AM Home Improvement 2X 9:00AM The Nanny 2X 10:00AM I Dream of Jeannie 2X 11:00AM Bewitched 2X 12:00PM Leave it to Beaver 2X 1:00PM Gunsmoke 2:00PM Bonanza 3:00PM Bonanza 4:00PM The Andy Griffith Show 2X 5:00PM Good Times 5:30PM The Jeffersons 6:00PM All in the Family 2X 7:00PM Sanford and Son 2X 8:00PM Married...With Children 2X (Raymond 2X on Thursday) 9:00PM Everybody Loves Raymond 4X (Best Night In on Mon., Comedies on Thurs.) 11:00PM Roseanne 4X 1:00AM The Nanny 2X 2:00AM Three's Company 4X 4:00AM M*A*S*H 2X 5:00AM Boston Legal Weekends 6:00AM Roseanne 2X 8:00AM The Nanny 6X 10:00AM Home Improvement 4X 12:00PM I Dream of Jeannie 4X 2:00PM Bewitched 4X 4:00PM The Andy Griffith Show 4X 6:00PM Married...With Children 6X 9:00PM-on use weekday schedule of Raymond, Roseanne, Nanny, 3's, etc. That would all flow perfectly. The above would only work really well if they could somehow air MWC on a daily basis which is unlikely. If they have to air newer shows in the morning, they might as well air Home Improvement along with Nanny instead of BL. Just what I would do.....I know a lot of people don't like the newer shows, but that's the direction they are going in so they might as well schedule them properly along with the older shows. |

If I were them,I get rid of all of the originals period! Sure they get good ratings;for a week or two,but when people catch on to how overrated, overhype, and overblown these shows really are, they stop watching them.Of course with more news that even more originals comming, the remaining classics will be gone. Why not just get rid of the classics, and just do originals like they want to do anyway? They know they want to.
