Was Alice Moving From New Jersey to Arizona A Mistake??? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I know that there would be no show if Alice didn't make the move, but, for discussion purposes,wouldn't have made more sense for Alice to stay home? I mean she had family there if for nothing else her son Tommy. What do you think?

The move itself wasn't a mistake because Alice and Tommy needed a fresh start. But moving to Phoenix was, even though that is where her car bit the dust. If she wanted to make it as a singer, she should have relocated to Hollywood, Vegas or Nashville.

I don't remember, but wasn't she on her way to California when her car broke down in Arizona? If she were really serious about being a singer, she would have taken the job so she could get her car fixed and then left again. I guess Mel's Diner became her career of choice.
