Aron Abrams, writer and producer on TV comedies "Everybody Hates Chris" and "King of the Hill," died suddenly Saturday on the Big Island of Hawaii while on vacation. He was 50.
Alternating between adult-skewed animated series and live-action sitcoms, Abrams had recently signed a deal with CBS to write a half-hour comedy "Raising Men," based on an Esquire article, and was a consulting producer on Fox animated sitcom "Bob's Burgers," premiering in January. His writing partner, Greg Thompson, described Abrams as a "walking compendium" of movie and TV show credits. Nommed for a WGA award for "Everybody Hates Chris," Abrams was also a writer and producer on "Grounded for Life" and "3rd Rock From the Sun." He wrote episodes for "Glenn Martin DDS," "Big Wolf on Campus," "Maggie" and "Fired Up" as well as TV movies "I'm in Hell" and "Bunk Bed Brothers." His first showbiz gig came when he co-wrote a script for Dino De Laurentiis with his brother, Ian Abrams, "Presumed Impotent." After teaming with his brother on several other projects for De Laurentiis, Abrams began landing sitcom gigs. Raised in Emerson, N.J.. he attended Oberlin and Connecticut College. Survivors include his wife, Lynn; two daughters; and niece Rachel Abrams, a Variety reporter. http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118029534. |
