Award-Winning FX Artist Grant McCune Dies at 67
R.I.P. Grant McCune
by Alyse Wax December 29, 2010 Award-winning visual effects designer Grant McCune has died. McCune was part of George Lucas's original Star Wars FX team, responsible for R2-D2, and took home an Oscar for his work on Star Wars. Aside from his work on the original Star Wars film, McCune contributed to other genre classics like Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Ghostbusters II, Spaceballs, Serenity, and Batman Forever.
