Default Time Warner customers in Ohio could lose ABC & Fox

Hope it's okay to post this.

Those of us in the Central Ohio area and have Time Warner Cable are in danger of losing our ABC & Fox stations on December 31st, cause the owners of those networks want to price gauge

I hope this doesn't happen. I hate watching shows online

i'm not really going to miss abc much - they really don't have anything I watch anymore, but it will hurt losing FOX

Time Warner says that we will still get our FOX shows - I know that we get the Cincinnati FOX affiliate through Time Warner on a higher channel, and we have the FOX on Demand channel, so maybe it won't be too bad.

I watch Bones on Fox and Desperate Housewives and my soaps on ABC.

This sucks either way, I hate it

I'm near Columbus and my only way is to watch stuff online. We don't get other affiliates.

Everyone in Ohio should switch to Satellite TV Dish Network that would show them.

the problem with that is that these affiliate stations use the same strong-arm tactics with ALL of the providers - eventually you are going to be exposed to one of these blackouts no matter where you are or what provider you are using.

...unless you are using free-air digital antenna - but we don't get ABC on there anyways - the local affiliate is too small-time, we are more than 4 miles away from the antenna so we can't receive it.

the last time this happened to us it was the NBC affiliate, it took about 3 weeks to resolve, and cost us an extra $15 a month - that's right - I pay $15 per month for NBC.

Remember when these channels did not charge anything to be carried by cable companies. It is rediculous that ANY station that airs commercials, charges even 1 penny for cable/sat companies to carry them. Hate to side with the cable companies, but they should not pay companies like Fox,ABC etc. etc. even one cent. Outfits like Fox,Viacom etc. need the cable/sat companies to carry them.Heck,if cable dropped them they(Fox,Viacom etc.) would not even be able to sell commercial time, and after a short period of time would be on their hands and knees asking to be carried for FREE or else they would go out of business, not that, that would be a bad thing.LOL

Fox has been doing this with alot cable/sat companies. They just recently settled here in New York and parts of the northeast with Cablevision and Dish(I think)--the suckers paid them off. So,even though I'm no expert, I think people in central Ohio will be getting those stations because Time Warner will give in.It's all really a game played out by these big greedy companies.Your cable bills may go up though.I'm not trying to be negative here but American tv has really turned into a mess.

The last time this happened in my area was with our CW station a few years ago. It took almost a month before it was resolved

Aren't cable providers required to carry broadcast stations?

remember back in the "good ol' days" when all you had to do was put a TV down somewhere, plug it in, and turn it on? ('course, you also had a lot less channels)

This is rare, but as someone living in Ohio I must say I wish I had Time Warner!

You don't have it in Dayton? I figured you would there.

I'm sick of paying for channels we can get FREE over the air anyways

I used to have it, Dragonflies, but I unsubscribed when I moved into my current (and more expensive) apartment. I had to cut something!

Anyway, I heard that Sinclair Broadcast Group (which owns WKEF 22 and WRGT 45, Dayton's ABC and Fox affiliates, respectively) and Time Warner struck a deal that keeps them on TWC until January 14: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...700985764.html
