Thought Haywood Nelson Reveals A Secret About Himself From His Days On 'What's Happening!!'

ESSENCE.COM: So as the heartthrob were you ever involved in any work romances?

NELSON: (Laughs.) No, not me, but I had a big crush on Dee. If it weren't for our age difference it would be very dangerous and tempting waters. Dee was sharp and was a smart young girl. She could tell adults off and get away with it. I also had a crush on Shirley. I love her wit. I love people who are fearless, and I'm a spiritual guy so I connect with people spiritually. Now, Debbie Morgan, who appeared on the show, and I used to date. It was my fault; I blew it. It didn't work out because I was too young, with a Porsche and was interested in driving around and taking road trips with my boys when she wanted time. if I had my head on right I would have married her.

I can understand him going out with Debbi Morgan but having a crush on Dee and Shirley ! I think he's serious about Dee but he has to just be playing about Shirley.

Debbi Morgan once said in a magazine interview that her character on What's Happening ended up "not being able to stand Dwayne, Roger and Rerun". I knew "Diane" definitely didn't like Rerun but she seemed to be cool with Roger and Dwayne! Maybe she just can't stand Heywood in real life !

IT'S VERY ERRONEOUS THAT SHE SAID HER CHARACTER GREW UNABLE TO TOLERATE DWAYNE! IF THAT WAS TRUE, THEN HOW COME SHE'D SEEM AS HAPPY AS DAY AND CAREFREE AROUND DWAYNE??

It's a shame Haywood didn't wife Debbie Morgan, she and him would've been still married today. They make a nice fit.On The Forever Sylvers Website, it was mentioned that he had a secret crush on Pat Sylvers. Wonder if they ever dated, he had great taste, that's for sure.

Haywood is still fooling some of y'all I see. Currently in his 50s..never married...no kids. Talking about who he should have married in his late teens? One of which included a crush on Shirley?

He's gay folks, wake up. You'll just never hear it publicly. And its OK. But take it from a gay man, when you start talking about all these missed opportunities to "marry" and when you talk about "crushes" you had, that's not real. Its a diversion tactic.
