Great characters

FISH was a great show, but unfortunately it meant the end of a great character when the show ended so quickly. It's a shame that Fish couldn't have somehow come out of retirement and returned to BARNEY MILLER after FISH was cancelled. The same thing happened with THE ROPERS...the characters were so popular they were given their own show, then when it was cancelled after only a year or so, they weren't allowed to return to THREE'S COMPANY. All these actors would have been better off in the long run to have turned down the chance for their own series (if they were given a choice). Very seldom do the characters get a chance to return to their old shows, like Joanie and Chachi did on HAPPY DAYS.
