Oral Surgery
Next Year (In 2 weeks) I'm going to get my Wisdom Teeth removed and a Molar replaced. I'm very worried because I think I may be in a buttload of pain the entire week and should I miss-out of work the day after and what foods should I eat that entire week?
Because the foods I thought would be mashed potatoes, tomato soup, cream o'wheat, and ice cream. |

I had all four wisdom teeth and all four molars removed four years ago. It wasn't as bad as I was expecting (the pain afterward, that is).
As for the foods you can eat during recovery, I stuck to soup, mashed potatoes and milkshakes. I believe I was back to eating solids in three or four days. |

I'd recommend not going to work the day after. After a couple days I was back to normal, but yeah, at least take that day off.

I remember when my son had all four wisdom teeth out on the same day. Everybody's different of course, but it wasn't that bad. That same night we even went out to a get together, and there was some pain, but it wasn't anywhere like what he or us expected; you'll be fine.

Really it isn't that bad. I didn't go to work the next day and I didn't need any pain relief. Just do as the doctor says and everything will be fine.

I recently had all four of my wisdom teeth removed and I'm not going to lie...IT WAS INCREDIBLY PAINFUL. Plan on taking a day off from work. And plan on a soft food diet for at least a week. Ice cream will be your best friend.

Thanks for all the advice.
But what would be best...a Bridge where my molar used to be, a false molar, an implant, or have it be gaped? |

Discuss it with your dentist/oral surgeon; I'd think that if the molar doesn't impact (no pun) your appearance, I'l just leave the space; If it were a front tooth or incisor, I'd be more inclined to do something cosmetically. I wouldn't think a molar, or a space left by it is that visible, if at all. Of course, if your dentist has a structural reason for putting in a spacer or something, then I'd do it. Just discuss it and get all the facts first.

They may want to do a bridge if no tooth is there it will cause the others to shift. I feel you pain two weeks ago I had a broken tooth fixed it was sore for two days where I had to take Tylenol after eating. I go for the permanant tooth January 4th.

Okay, that shouldn't be too bad. Today i was talking to one of my friends and she said that they put her on tylenol 3 with codine and i guess that wouldn't be bad either. I just don't want to be put on Vicodin, my Aunt's addicted to that stuff and I just don't think that I could take it.

Okay, to MrCleveland, I just got mine taken out yesterday. Honestly, this morning I woke up with no pain, my main problem is swelling. If you can keep the swelling down you should be good. I would tell you how I felt yesterday, but they put me on Vicodin, and I have never been on painkillers before and that along with coming out of anesthia (how ever you spell it) I really don't remember much of anythign at all from yesterday except for the fact that I bled a lot. With getting all four removed be prepared to be changing gauze all day. As for the food, stick to stuff like pudding, yogurt, mashed potatoes, applesauce, stuff that you don't even have to chew. Also, no straws, those could pull out your stitches.

Yep yep! They give you a packet of gauze. They're little folded sqares that you can fold and bite down on. I think you have to wait at least two hours before you change it for the first time. Like I said, theres a lot of blood, so don't let that freak you out when yu change it your first time.
