Drool 'Everybody Loves Raymond' Pulled From Iraqi TV Because Of Doris Roberts Character!

Doris Roberts, 80, reinvented another archetype — the overbearing mother — on CBS’ Everybody Loves Raymond (1996-2005), a show now seen in more than 140 countries. “Two episodes aired in Iraq before they pulled it because my character was ‘too strong,’ ” Roberts says. “That’s a country I probably won’t be visiting anytime soon.”

Hilarious and depressing at the same time. What are they afraid of? There are huge segments of the world that want to enslave and subjugate half of the world's population (women) and it never ceases to amaze me.

God bless America; I really mean that.

The show wouldn't have been nearly as funny without her, and she has 4 Emmy's as proof of that.

Does Iraq even have a sense of humor?

Between ethnic cleansing, terrorism and an impending civil war, I would think watching sitcoms would be a low priority in Iraq.

Marie Barone would make mincemeat out of them.

As much as those murdering bastards hate Americans, why do they bother with any of our programming anyway? I swear they are all a waste of human flesh! Oh and another thing, if they have a problem with Marie, they must not like Debra any better because she's just as overbearing and some times worse!

Debra is way over the top with her harping and nagging. She needs to get slapped good to shut her up. Poor Ray

LOL! You must be a big fan like me! I saw that episode about her PMS and how crazy she was. I mean, she's horrible without the added monthly curse so I thought she was completely a loon. Now I'm a woman and I certainly understand the monthly curse but when women act like a loonitic like that they need serious help. I think we should send women like her to Iraq and handle those men! LOL!

Now in defense of miss control freak, Raymond can be stupid and most of the time is, but she married it! I really watch this show because of Robert, Frank and Marie anyway.

Ironically, Saddam Hussein was a fan of American action movies, particularly ones starring Schwarzenegger and Willis.

But I'm sure he probably hated anything that involved strong women.

Personally, if Bin Laden gets captured, I'd like to see the bastard executed. But not before he's tortured...by women!

Wow that is ironic and something I didn't know about Hussein. I agree with you about Bin Laden, I'd pay my last cent to witness any misery he would suffer.
