I'm having a hard time recalling whether or not this was a UM segment or not, but I think it was. I remember it scaring the bajeezus bells out of me when I was younger as I was the same age as the girl killed. Also I was alone in my house at 9pm and she was alone in her house (I believe). Her wealthy family either came back from a party or were having a party in another area of their mansion at the time and she was found shot to death by the washer and dryer. I believe the family lived in Texas. I can vaguely remember an image of a girl laying face down in a darkened hallway next to the machines.
Am I way off track here? |

I apologize as I don't recall the names in the segment. Lifetime aired the spike version of this not too long ago. The names escape me though. I think you are referring to the case where the little girl opens the door for someone who cane to look at some puppies for sale. The mother and I believe a friend or relative were both assaulted and one of them died. As I recall a pipe of some kind was used to beat the women. I don't remember much else as I had only seen this case the one time. I believe there was an update where the person responsible was arrested though.
Not sure if that helps or not. |

Is it Cullen Davis? He was a rich oilman from Dallas.
His ex-wife was one of four people attacked during a shooting rampage at his mansion in August 1976. She was critically wounded, as was a visitor. Her boyfriend and 12-year-old daughter were killed. Multimillionaire oilman Cullen Davis was acquitted of murder in the death of his stepdaughter, Andrea Wilborn -- despite Priscilla Davis' identification of him as the gunman -- and never was tried in the other shootings. (I got most of that info from Priscilla Davis' 2001 obituary) The following is a quote from the TruTv website regarding the murder of 12 year old Andrea Wilborn: What the final moments of life were like for the tall, quiet preteen who was remembered as a fervent animal lover, no one really knows, except that she died a cruel and violent death in the basement of her family's mansion. She had either been dragged to the wine cellar of the house by force or gone willingly with someone she probably knew. When she got there, the killer had her kneel on the floor of the cellar and shot her in the back of the head, execution-style. The killer was undoubtedly splashed with some of Andrea's blood, because a smeared, bloody handprint was found elsewhere in the house by police. |

That has to be it. Forgive me because I cannot remember the names of anyone involved but what you described above hits on almost every point that I can remember. This memorey is about 20 years old but I recall: The victim was a 12 year old girl. She was shot. She was shot in the laundry room. The crime occurred in a wealthy person's house at night. There was either a party going on or she was found when the adults came back from a party. I'm vaguely sure she was a step-daughter or guest to the house. It scared the poo caca out of me. I'm going to have to see what I can track down on Mr. Cullen Davis and see what television programs he was featured on. I'm assuming it wasn't an Unsolved Mysteries segment as none of the resident experts have confirmed it as being so. Thanks! |

1) American Justice 2) Dateline NBC 3) 20/20 All did stories about T. Cullen Davis. There's also a movie called Murder in Texas about the incident. |
