King Diamond's Health Scare

A surprising announcement recently came from the wife and business partner of Danish-born metal legend King Diamond, revealing that the Mercyful Fate frontman has been going through a very tough couple of weeks regarding his health.

After the discovery of some serious heart problems, it was necessary for him to undergo an extensive cardiac procedure, but thankfully he's home from the hospital and well on his way to recovery.





Diamond's wife Livia Zita posted an update to his official site, CovenWorldwide.org, stating that the 54-year-old artist was taken to the hospital on November 29th to undergo a series of tests, which determined that the singer would have to immediately undergo an open-heart triple bypass operation.

Fortunately, he came through very well: “He was the first one in the history of the hospital who walked on his own power from the ICU to normal care,” Zita explained.

“In light of this,” she added,” he will be taking a break from music and the music business altogether until further notice.”







Understandably, this will have a major impact on the many media projects and tour plans King has in the works – including several highly anticipated live DVD releases we've hinted at on these pages – but for the time being “all those things are in the distant future and he's not thinking about them.”

She did reassure everyone that “the King Diamond band is not stopping, disbanding or anything of the sort. King's health is first priority, and when everything is going good with him, the music will resume.”

I heard about King Diamond's health problems earlier. Hope he does okay, because he's got some great songs!

Interesting, he used to have a beard and a different kind of face makeup design. He looks younger and more like the classic Norwegian black metal bands with corpsepaint (even though he's Danish).
