Here goes

1. The Office (NBC)
-- The people who say it is past its prime are wrong. Yes it occasionally has less strong episodes but that's to be expected. It is as funny and offbeat as ever. Now what happens after the brilliant Steve Carell leaves in May is a different story.

2. Modern Family (ABC)
-- Without a doubt the freshest new sitcom since, well, "The Office." It has a brilliant cast and great writing with an element a sweetness. A family sitcom for a new generation of families.

3. Detroit 1-8-7 (ABC)
-- The grittiest and best new drama on TV is highlighted by a fantastic star turn by Michael Imperioli who has already given a very layered performance. I hope it survives another season but I don't feel great about its chances.

4. Criminal Minds (CBS)
-- This is not another run-of-the-mill procedural. It is a fascinating look at serial killers with a likable cast of characters who are more than just faces solving the crimes. It lost a little bit when AJ Cook left but hopefully new cast member Rachel Nichols can help things.

5. The Middle (ABC)
-- A hilarious throwback family sitcom that has really found its voice this season after a promising debut season. It is so refreshing to see a sitcom that captures middle America and small town life so earnestly.

6. Parks and Recreation (NBC)
-- One of the most improved shows, "Parks and Rec" went from being a pale "Office" clone to being a terrifically smart ensemble comedy. Amy Poehler has gone from being a Steve Carell clone to a hilarious lead character. I can hardly wait for it to come back January 20.

7. Chase (NBC)
-- I hated the pilot but this show has grown on me tremendously. Yes it's a procedural but its a fast-paced thriller that has had some great guest star turns by the criminals. Too bad it's on NBC as it has CBS written all over it.

8. The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (CBS)
-- Forget all the Jay vs. Conan or Jay vs. Dave, Craig Ferguson is the highlight of late night. An offbeat sense of humor and enjoyable whenever I get the chance to watch him.

9. The Event (NBC)
-- There are things to like here and things to not like. It has some flaws but so far it's been gripping enough to keep me watching. There are some strong performances here but can it be sustained?

10. Jersey Shore (MTV)
-- I'm going to put this on here not because it's a favorite but because I find it fascinating. Reality TV has never quite been like this and they have made such an impact. It's not quality TV, but it's a guilty pleasure.

TV

As time goes by, I find myself watching fewer telecasts and more videos and
DVDs. So, I don't have ten shows that I watch regularly. And, unfortunately,
some of my fave shows are opposite each other (e.g., Big Bang Theory,
Bones, Fringe
). But, I can come up with six:

1. Smallville
2. No Ordinary Family
3. Vampire Diaries
4. Supernatural
5. Nikita
6. Better with You
