Considering her poor attitude and drug abuse problems, would it have been better or worse if they decided to kill off her character? Remember, they wrote her off the show by having her leave her husband and daughter...Thoughts?

I'm glad they didn't kill the Julie character since it left the door open for her to return either later in the series or in any potential reunion movies. That being said I wish they had come up with a better back story for the character leaving the show. Her up and leaving her husband and daughter never sat right with me.

Agree with Marv. To kill her off would have left no room whatsoever for her to return, and even though this was a show with serious overtones, it was, ultimately, a sitcom where you want everything to end up positively.
I also agree it's a shame that they had to pretty much blaspheme the character in order to find a way to write her out. They could have done much better by her.

I also think that generally, for a sitcom it's inappropriate to kill off a character -- especially a young one. Tough call as far as how to handle Julie though -- I'm sure at least a lot of thought went into it, which I can appreciate.
