I'm referring to after you graduated high school or college. My parents didn't make me pay because I went to college. They did make my brother and sister pay, but it wasn't much; $50 a week. My parents didn't really need the money. It was more of a lesson in responsibility type of thing.

Yes, I gave my mother way toooo much money. I regret it. I gave her a lot of money hoping that I would get to stay with her, sadly that didn't last.

When I was an adult living with my parents -- especially after moving back in with them after having lived on my own for a few years -- they made me pay rent. But to be honest, I got away with not paying most months.

When I was in highschool I had a job to help with rent and I also was expected to help with utilities and groceries. It was basically a matter of my parents not having enough for all of us to live on without my help, so I didn't mind. I worked my way through college and helped them out as well since my father was terminally ill at that time. My father passed away several years ago, and now my mother is disabled and living with me, and I do not mind at all helping her out. My parents gave me all they could when I was growing up and I am glad I am in a position to help my mother out now.

Yes I had to pay rent in one way or another since I was 16. The more I made the more I had to pay. My mother told me you have to pay to live anywhere. She is so right.

No, but I had to give my parents money when they were in Jeopardy...like they are right now!
They promise to pay me back, but the debt they owe me is $6500 right now. And with their finance now...I won't be seeing much.

Yes, I did. Not because they made me or anything but I just felt it was the right thing to do.

The last couple of years I lived at home (I was in my 20's) I paid what my parents referred to as room and board. It was a pretty small amount though and like Janice my parents were trying to teach me some responsibility.

Yes, I do - and I don't mind. It's only fair.

Since I am single and my mom is elderly and a widow I have moved in with her. I pay her monthly and I do the yard work and help her out. So it works out well.
