Did Rural Sitcom Stars Like on 'Green Acres' Typecast or Blacklisted?!?
We all know the rural purge of the late 60's early 70's wiped out shows like Green Acres & The Beverly Hillbillies. We also know MOST of those stars were hardly seen from again.
Was it a Simple case of being typecasted or were networks afraid to touch them because of their past rural shows that became taboo?

Many of them were typecast. I remember reading an Andy Griffith Show book years ago and Jack Dodson who played Howard said he was typecast. It took Andy Griffith almost 20 years to finally have another hit show. George Lindsay survived because he went on to Hee Haw which was already rural. A few actors did have some success right away though. The biggest one was Buddy Ebsen who went just about right into Barnaby Jones and Eddie Albert did star in Switch for three years in the 1970's. Don Knotts left TAGS early and made movies with Disney which helped him get away from that stigma for awhile.
