Default I just want to say . . .

the stephan episodes really bothered me . . . cuz it's like - that bitch Laura not only wouldn't go out with steve erkel but was totally mean to him - so in the later years when he became stephan, I felt strongly that she shouldn't be allowed to date him. . . if you don't love the nerd, you don't deserve the cool guy.

The fact that she would date Stephan when she wouldn't give Steve the time of day did make Laura seem like a very shallow person. That certainly made me lose some respect for her.

Keep in mind Laura was a teenager at the time. If she was a grown woman i'd agree and say yeah, she was very shallow. But you have to remember how things are in High School and how people that age often are.

I don't really think Stefan was needed. I think that the people that watched the show at the time was curious of how Jaleel White would act, if he acted like a "normal" person, with his own voice and all.

Exactly. I also said in another post that it would be better if Stefan was an unknown relative to Steve instead of being Steve's alter ego, but perhaps it would be best without him. I love the show but in the later seasons I think Jaleel played way too many parts.

Yeah. Laura being a shallow girl in school was pretty realistic, but then there was Stefan who was not.

If they had introduced a (male) cousin of Steve's instead of turning Stephan into a real person, it sure would have been more realistic. But then, the last few seasons of this show were hardly about realism anyway.

However, Jaleel did play a male cousin of Steve's once: OCD Urkel. That episode is one of my favorites from the otherwise god-awful 9th season.

I didn't like stephan at all. He was just boring. Jaleel did better when he was playing Myrtle.
