Default Skippy Handleman vs. Steve Urkel

- Skippy Handelman is the Keaton's neighbor who periodically shows up at their house.
- Steve Urkel is the Winslow's next door neighbor who shows up at their house all the time.

- Skippy has a never ending crush on Mallory

- Urkel has a never ending crush on Laura

I think Skippy was a lot more likeable than Urkel. Urkel was plain annoying with that laugh, snort, high pitched voice and the way he wore his paints, ugh.

Skippy was a sweet character. He never did have a chance with Mallory.

The fact that Urkel finally won Laura over, but they never let Skippy win Mallory over was crazy. It would have been more believeable to let Skippy be with Mallory.

Yeah but in over for Steve to win Laura over he first had to change himself into Stephan Urkell. Skippy never changed. He was the same sweet lovable guy at the end of the series as he was at the beginning. That's what I like and admire about Skippy. He was happy with who was and wasn't about to change himself for anyone.

Urkel just annoyed me. So much so in fact, that I couldn't bear to see him onscreen. No offense to his fans, but the writers weren't exactly going for subtlety there.

To me the difference is that while Skippy was a character Urkel was a caricature!

I hated Skippy when the show was actually airing, and I still do. He was so annoying, so not cute or funny. Ugh. A useless character.

I always thought Skippy was more like Boner or Stinky from Growing Pains rather than Urkel, Urkel was a one-nerd wrecking ball!
