Cool

I'm glad they finally put Gale on the box cover! And I see they have a special feature about Gale on this set as well. It's nice to see Gale getting his props!!

I'm glad to see Gale Gordon on the cover as well, but why do they keep using publicity photos from before the series premiered in 1968? I would prefer the images be appropriate to the specific season of the DVD set.

Also, because Lucille Ball and Flip Wilson exchanged guest appearances that season, I was hoping one of the bonus features would be Lucy's guest appearance on The Flip Wilson Show. But it will be interesting seeing her on Pearl Bailey's show, but I'd prefer the Flip Wilson Show (even though I've seen it before).

Lucy's appearance on The Flip Wilson Show is already on DVD. Maybe they wanted to have something more rare on the DVD set.

Finally. March 2011 though? What hung Season Four up so long? MPI was rolling along at a good clip releasing a season every 3 or 4 months then they just stopped. Anyway, glad to see it is finally coming out. I'll have to watch the first 3 seasons of The Lucy Show again to hold me over, LOL!

Actually, I think they delayed season 4 because they seem to be "working with" CBS and timing the releases so they're not competing with The Lucy Show releases. I think at one point season 4 of HL was schedules for November or December, but then TLS season 3 was announced.

I for one, want to eventually have all 6 seasons of TLS AND all six seasons of HL plus the Lucy specials, no matter when they come out.

Well, they should time these things accordingly. I mean, we've waited years for these shows to come out on DVD now they release it all within the span of a year, one right on top of the other. We aren't made of money for goodness sake.

Yep, and I think that's exactly why Season Three of TLS isn't selling as strongly as the first two seasons. There was a full year between seasons one and two, then just four months after Season Two, they release Season Three. Not everybody is in a position to spend 30 or 40 bucks on a DVD every couple of months, especially in this economy.

Well actually, there was a long gap between seasons 3 and 4 (seven and a half months), but there has been a trend towards longer periods of time between releases, which is this:

Season One: August 25, 2009
Season Two: November 3, 2009 (2 months after S1)
Season Three: June 15, 2010 (7 and 1/2 months after S2)
Season Four: March 2011 (9 months after S3)

But remember, during these long gaps there have been releases of the Lucille Ball specials, which are also full of extras. Taking those releases into account, the trend is really more like this:

Specials: Lucy Gets Lucky/Three for Two: June 30, 2009
Here's Lucy Season One: August 25, 2009 (2 months)
Here's Lucy Season Two: November 3, 2009 (2 months)
Special: Lucy Calls the President: April 6, 2010 (5 months)
Here's Lucy Season Three: June 15, 2010 (2 and 1/2 months)
Specials: Happy Anniversary/Catherine Curtis: Dec 14, 2010 (6 months)
Here's Lucy Season Four: March 2011 (3 months)

So taking the specials into account, the releases from MPI have actually continued at a fairly consistent pace. And then factoring the CBS releases of The Lucy Show into the equation, it looks like this:

Specials: Lucy Gets Lucky/Three for Two: June 30, 2009
The Lucy Show Season One: July 21, 2009 (3 weeks)
Here's Lucy Season One: August 25, 2009 (1 month)
Here's Lucy Season Two: November 3, 2009 (2 months)
Special: Lucy Calls the President: April 6, 2010 (5 months)
Here's Lucy Season Three: June 15, 2010 (2 and 1/2 months)
The Lucy Show Season Two: July 13, 2010 (1 month)
The Lucy Show Season Three: November 30, 2010 (4 and 1/2 months)
Specials: Happy Anniversary/Catherine Curtis: Dec 14, 2010 (2 weeks)
Here's Lucy Season Four: March 2011 (3 months)

Pre-ordered Season 4 even though Desi Jr.'s is not in this season. It's likely to be beautifully remastered and uncut with special feature galore.

Pre-ordered my copy! This is one of my favorite seasons, so I'm quite glad that it's finally going to be released!

Hmm, the fourth season is my least favorite. I will order a copy for myself, but that season had more than its share of stinkers.
