Confused Did The "Mary & Rhoda" Reunion Special Ever Explain What Happened To Brenda???

I am curious if she appeared on the special or if she was ever mentioned?

I'm pretty sure Brenda wasn't mentioned. There may have been a brief reference to Ida or "Rhoda's mother" when Mary and Rhoda finally re-united.

Its to bad Mary & Rhoda didn't become a series, beyond this movie, even if it only lasted a season. It would have been interesting to see characters from both TMTMS and Rhoda pop up, like Brenda Morgenstern or Phyllis Lindstrom. Nancy Walker had passed away before this show, but they could have explained whatever became of Ida (and Martin).

I don't think there was any mention of Joe or any of the Morgensterns, but it's been years since I've seen this flick. This is a question for Kristen and Leigh Ann!!

No there was not and I was looking for it, since I love Brenda so much. The only mention of Ida was, I believe, Rhoda saying something like "Now I sound like my mother."

I, too wish it became a show. I thought the movie was good - depressing (I had watched a bunch of Rhoda episodes before seeing the movie, and so to see Rhoda so much older was a tad depressing, lol), but good.

They're all on the Island of Misfit TV Characters with Chuck Cunningham, Judy Winslow, Carl Dixon, etc.

I disagree,I didn't like the reunion movie so was glad a series wasn't made.

Mary and Valerie were wasted in a poor TV movie all over the place.

I agree - the movie was awful, a complete waste of time and talent for MTM and VH. This was a golden opportunity to bring these characters together and delight their fans - and they compeltely missed the mark.

Agreed. The movie was SO not worthy of Mary, Valerie OR their characters. Sometimes it's better to leave the past in the past!!!

Well, in 1997, MTM was coming back as the owner of WJM news and ABC was slated to air the show. ABC was considering backing out of the project but the production company was gonna fulfill its 13 ep committment but alas, it never came through. Valerie Harper was gonna come back as the next door neighbor Rhoda as well.

I haven't actually seen the reunion movie. What is it about? I mean, I can take a good guess that Mary and Rhoda meet up with each other, but that's about all I got.

Mary and Rhoda each have a teen daughter semi-named for the other's best friend (Mary's daughter is Rose and Rhoda's is Meredith). Mary is a widow and Rhoda is divorced from her second husband. They run into each other in the park after having lost touch for several years. That's all I remember.
