Question Do You Have Family In The Military?

My brother is in the military. He's in the Navy. He deploys tomorrow morning for the middle East. He will be gone for 6 to 9 months.

He has been in the military for almost 15 years (January 1996).

Anyone have family members in the military?

My older brother has been in the Air Force since 1998. He and his family are currently stationed in Italy, but spent four years in England before that. He was deployed to Afghanistan for six months this year.

No. However, my father's uncle was drafted sometime during World War II. He never got shipped overseas to Europe or Japan. I think the furthest he was sent was Philadelphia.

Oh, and he was from Hamilton, Ohio, just like me.

My dad was in the Army and later Air Force Reserve and he served in Vietnam.

Two cousins on my mom's side served in Iraq with the Marines. One is discharged and the other is still serving and is stationed in North Carolina.

My uncle served in the Army for 20 years.

Another uncle's stepdaughter is in Navy and works as a nurse.

I remember my cousin was in the military and I remember one thanksgiving he came home and said "This food is nothing like it is there" --- Or maybe he meant the other way round,I dunno.........

I think when he first joined,He didnt like it but had to stay 4 years.........

Most of my family avoided the military I recall a couple uncles served but I can't think of any others.
One uncle who lived close to my family died pretty young as he came back from the service addicted to their cigs and he had some asthma before he went in and got sicker in the service. Cigs were a supposed gift to the servicepeople.

My uncle was career military. He was a helicopter (or as his mother said it, helicopiter) pilot in WW 2, and stayed in the army. He retired as a colonel.
