If anyone is looking for holiday movies at this minute, NBC is showing Miracle on 34th Street right now. It started at 2:00 and will be on until 4:00 today.

Great movie(the original of course), but I would never watch it on NBC or for that matter any commercial tv station.I'm guessing they must have cut out so much of the movie for added commercials.It's gotten to the point where one of the only tv stations we view movies on is Turner Classics.I remember when it was very easy and nice to view movies on commercial television,but that was when they showed about 1/4th the amount of ads they do now.

The Trailer is VERY interesting too!

Fact: This film was seen in the Summer of 1947 and played 'till Christmas!

Yeah,it was released in the summer of 1947,I don't think the studio knew how successful the movie would become.It truly is a great movie(however the 2 remakes were terrible).If anyone has not yet seen the original,you really should check it out,but again please don't even try to view it on any tv station that shows commercials.

I love the 1947 original. I have it on DVD. But I actually think that the 1994 John Hughes remake is one of the few cases where the remake bests the original.

TCM is THE BEST movie station!! Not only do they not show comercials and edit their movies, but they show every movie from the mid-50s until the present, "letterboxed" or in "wide-screen" the way they SHOULD be shown.
AMC used to also be good (before they "jumped the shark"-which, sadly, I'm waiting for TCM to do someday; and not looking forward to it) but even they never did that.

Yea, it was released in June and on the posters they made it seem like a love story. They showed Kris Kringle, but it was in the upper left corner, and he was small with his back to the camera.
And in the middle they showed John Payne and whoever the woman was (I forget her name) kissing.

I like TCM, but I'm very disappointed that their HD channel has yet to show anything in actual HD. I wonder what they're waiting for.

The lady is Maureen O'Hara. Yes, it is crazy that they released a Christmas movie in June. Didn't Edmund Gwenn win an Oscar for playing Kris Kringle???

He sure did, and it received two wins for best script, and nom for Best Picture.

The original, colorized version is my fav.
