Have any of you ever tried conducting your own investigation into some of the unsolved cases? I mean actually going out in the field--out to the scene of the crime--and trying to reconstruct what happened and work from there?

Just wondering. There are some pretty good minds on this site it seems--People good at sleuthing.

I have researched some cases online and at the library, but I would never go to a crime scene, unless the family or friend asked me to and then only under the strictest of conditions. I would also visually document any trips to a crime scene, as well as create detailed notes.

No offense to any of the police officers that might be using this site, but I think that it would be very easy for the police to start investigating a person that uncovers information that they missed/overlooked rather than the case.

I would strongly suggest that if anybody uncovers any evidence in a case, that they first consult a reputable lawyer and retain their services BEFORE they go to the authorities.That way, if any..."difficulties" arise from the evidence that you locate, you won't find yourself to be the new "target" of the investigation.

Funny you bring this up. I have been trying to get together some info for the cases that have taken place in my state (WA) to go out and do this. I haven't so far though. Got to have the time to do so. LOL

Some members here have discussed the feasability of contacting victims and witnesses. So far though, I think we've just sat around and waited for people connected to UM cases to visit us. There are several folks from UM who are members and post here.

There's also an interesting thread, possibly named photos of UM sites or something like that, you might like to look at.

A few members here live near sites featured on UM or have gone by them in their travels. Some of the photos posted include the Wacker House, the florist shop where Permon Gilbert was seen, the parking lot where Blair Adams was found murdered, and the road where Rhonda Hinson was shot.

If I can find it, I'll bump it up to the top for you.
