Maybe if they'd made her a regular, it would've lasted!! (Bob went off the air around the same time The Golden Palace did, if I remember correctly.)

Apparently she joined the cast in the second season.
(Lisa Kudrow appeared in 3 episodes as well) Season 2 only lasted 8 episodes. |

Ahhh, I see. I never saw Bob, so I didn't know Betty had become a regular. I guess by that point, it was too little, too late. Thanks for the enlightenment, Michael!!

Yeah, I watched this show when it was new and then taped all the episodes when TV Land aired it years ago.
Season two was a total revamp, changing Bob's job and thus co-workers. Bob worked at a Greeting Card company and Betty White was someone there, I can't remember who, lol. |

I loved the first season of Bob. I didn't even watch the second season. The problem with Bob was the day of the week it aired. It aired on a Friday opposite TGIF.

The revamped second season of 'Bob' only ran for like three weeks. It's too bad that they didn't give it another chance on another night, like Monday for instance. With the combination of Bob Newhart and Betty White, this show could have been a lot of fun.

If Bob had aired in Newhart's old timeslot (Mondays at 9, I believe) - it might have had a decent shot.

I have an episode of "The Price Is Right" from Oct. 1993 where at the very end, there was a commercial for "Bob" with this song (sung to the tune of "Barbara Ann"):
Bob, Bob, Bob, Bob, Bob is back, Bob is back!! The Bob you love's on Friday night with Jere Burns & Betty White, Bob is back, back, back on CBS! Yeah, catchy tune, I know. Also, Betty White played Sylvia Schmitt, who hired Bob for the presidency of the Greeting Card company he started working at, and Jere Burns played her son Pete. |

I guess my viewing habits were similar to others' here -- If this is the Bob series I'm thinking of, where he played a comic book artist in the 1st season, that was the only season I saw. I was a Cynthia Stevenson fan of sorts, and I see that she continued into Season 2 for a while, but I have no memory of the greeting card career for Bob.
I did enjoy what I saw, though I admit that I was probably spending more time admiring Cynthia's form than paying attention to the storylines...! |

Betty White would have joined Bob in the fall of 1993, when the second season started. The Golden Palace was on 1992-1993 (ending in the spring). The second season of Bob just lasted until December, so she was on about 12 weeks. In September of 1995, Betty was cast in Maybe This Time, playing Marie Osmond's mother.

I vaguely remember Maybe This Time - didn't Ashley Johnson (Growing Pains) play Betty's granddaughter?

Yes about Ashley Johnson.
If studios were smart, they would release all these short-lived series Betty White was on, while she's so hot! The Betty White Show (1978); The Golden Palace (1992-93); Bob (1992-93); Maybe This Time (1995-96). |
