Over the River and Through the Woods
Emily leaves town to spend Thanksgiving with her parents, leaving Bob, his friends, and his patients to fend for themselves. What results is a truly lost weekend -- booze and all. Yes, this is the episode with the celebrated "moo-goo-gai-pan" scene, cited by many TV historians as one of the greatest moments in sitcom history. Featured in the cast are Janet Meshad as Elaine and Dave Himes as the delivery boy. Written by Bruce Kane, "Over the River and Through the Woods" originally aired on November 22, 1975. http://www.starpulse.com/news/Jonath...rve_up_thanksg |

This is an hilarious episode and it is one of my favorites but I would have to give my vote for best Thanksgiving episode of all time to WKRP In Cincinnati's "Turkey's Away". This Bob Newhart Show episode comes a close second.

This episode and WKRP's "Turkeys Away" are tied for the best Thanksgiving episodes for me. It's great fun for me watching them back to back. Love them!!!

I'll always be biased toward WKRP's Turkeys Away - and it probably is a better episode- but this one comes close.
I haven't seen Over The River and Through The Woods in a few years, but I will definitely revisit it (and Turkeys Away) this week, |

Some great quotes from this ep:
Jerry: (selling Thanksgiving raffle tickets) "Hey, Elaine, how about taking a chance on a turkey?" Elaine: "No thanks, Jerry, I don't want to go out with you!" (Getting ready to watch the William & Mary football game aka the "two jug game) Jerry: "Gimme a W!" Bob: "W!" Jerry: "Gimme an M!" Bob: "M!" Jerry: "Whaddya got?" Bob: "Wm." Mr. Carlin: "This is the pits! You know you're at a bad party when Elliot Carlin is the happiest man in the room!" And of course, "DIR Bob Hartley. D-R, period!!!"
