Default Observation: Doc Williams-Few Healthy Habits

In some of the episodes I've seen with Doc Williams ( Frank Cady) he is smoking a cigar after dinner, smoking a cigarette in his office while examing Ozzie and having a huge ice cream treat while Ozzie tells the story of his bad dream. I guess in the 1950's, anything went. LOL.

By the way Frank Cady is still alive.

I think, in the 50's, people didn't think cigarettes were unhealthy.

That's so wonderful that Frank Cady is still with us!

It would be nice if he was contacted to get his thoughts about the series.

From my research I found out Mr. Cady is in poor health and unable to sign his name.

That's so sad to hear Frank isn't doing well. I loved him as both Doc Williams on O&H and Sam Drucker on Petticoat Junction/Green Acres & Beverly Hillibilies.

I have a copy of a Family Fues All star dvd, and Frank is on there playing with the Petticoat Junction girls.

One thing can be said about Ozzie, when it came to the supporting cast, he did a great job of casting. From, Thorny, Joe, Doc and Darb, Clara and Wally, all the way down to Jack the soda jerk and Miss Edwards you get a sense that they could have all been good friends. They all seemed so natural in their parts.

One of the things I like about Ozzie and Harriet is that they have a neighborhood, a whole community you get to know and become involved with. It's like your entering Nelsonville.

"Community" unfortunately the word no longer exists....in today's world of soccer moms, $60,00 SUV's and text messaging....that's why I escape to O&H and other shows from a forgotten era that today's generation could care less about........Sorry for the rant but I'm old!

I'm 23 and am sick of this world. Love me the texting, tho. lol. But you're right. Their's no sense of community. People remain under lock and key. And who can blaim them? A murder or rape or kidnapping happens everyday. Thank God we have '50s classics to escape to.

no, they didn't. It was in 1964 that the surgeon general first deemed them to be unhealthy. I think it was in an article in Readers Digest.

I remember a butter commerical that aired not too long ago where a woman is talking about how health concerens weren't really a concern back then. And then, they showed a family in black and white. The wife set a baked potatoe in front of her husband with a stick of butter sticking out. The butter was the only thing with color. I would post it, but I forgot the name of the butter brand.
